With the forum dating back all the way to April 3rd 2015, many changes have occurred and we've amassed around 8 pages worth of members (at the time of writing this). With this in mind, we can rest assured that we all have the community's best interest at hand. Therefore, here are a few proposals for the near/distant future of the Sphere Matchers Community:
- Our own game - as a community heavily influenced by video games, why not make our own? Well, we firstly need to slow down a bit, as this is a challenge on its own. The concept of creating our own match-3-spheres type game has been floating around forever and we are still aiming towards that as our main goal. If we were to create and release our own game, a few things would subsequently occur:
- We would dedicate 100% of our time on concepts, mechanics, coding and graphics of the game, which means forum and Discord server updates would become scarce.
- We would slowly phase out the inclusion of Luxor, Zuma and all other mods in our standard community content. This does not mean that it would be disallowed, but much rather that it would not play a significant role nor would it be heavily enforced.
- We would make sure it's modifiable and free, which means every member could access it.
- A better forum - even though currently we have a quite good looking forum, it still somewhat lacks key features which would make it more fun. Perhaps in the future I could do my best to incorporate certain mini-games and challenges? On a more likely note, we may switch forum providers based on the members themselves. If we were to hypothetically have a better forum, all members would be able to:
- Make a fully custom html slideshow and showcase for their mod on a specific page.
- Have their own fully custom profile pages.
- Have the ability to showcase their in-game scores on their profiles.
- A complex team of staff - it's obvious that Sphere Matchers currently has a very primitive layout of staff: owners, admins, senior moderators and moderators. But what if staff members weren't just officers patrolling the forum and Discord channels? This hypothetical suggestion includes the following roles:
- Artist
- Forum designer
- Forum coder (HTML)
- Modding/forum assistant
- Moderator adviser
- Rule expert
- Social Media Moderator
I've written all these suggestions off the top of my head. Feel free to share your own opinions and thoughts on the subject and remember, these are just proposals, not announcements for upcoming changes.
P.S.: I've added in a 'for fun' page which showcases the top 40 gem collectors! Find it here: spherematchers.proboards.com/page/gem-leaderboard
Thanks!
