Hello my little scarabs,
Since recently more and more members have engaged in Luxor modding, or modding in general, it was thought that there should be certain limitations/rules.
Most modders experience difficulties alongside criticism for their low quality modifications, and in most cases, rightfully so. So the following rules must be followed in order to prolong the existence of the Sphere Matcher community, and to ensure quality mods are dispatched as well.
General about files:
● When making a mod, make sure you look through other mods to make sure you're not making a blatant copy.
● Don't copy other modifications
● When using assets, make sure they do not fall under the copyrighted segment.
● When using assets made by someone else, make sure you check if credit is necessary.
● If the assets are derived from other sphere matching games, or games in general, make sure you credit the company who made the game, and if you're able to, credit the person who actually made them.
● When picking music, make sure it isn't copyrighted.
● When taking music from other games, make sure you credit the company and the person who made it.
● Please do not use any offensive, disturbing or earrape music.
● Do NOT post the full game files, which includes the game.exe file, along other necessary files in order to run the game, that'd be considered piracy, no matter how heavily modded your game is. (examples of this rule break include Luxor Mod 2016)
● When using a asset made from scratch made by another member, credit is obligatory.
● If you made the assets yourself, credit isn't needed nor suggested.
Levels:
● When making a level path, please make sure it is beatable. Saying "It's only for pros" isn't an excuse.
● We'd suggest that you attempt to create your own backgrounds.
● Please do not use any copyrighted material in your background (examples include but are not limited to: characters, iconic items, etc.)
● When using google images, make sure that the image isn't under any copyright law.
To summarize:
● You must be willing to accept constructive criticism, criticism does not equal hate.
● Don't let anyone put you down, every mod is equal.
● Don't be annoyed or angry if your mod isn't popular, popularity honestly doesn't matter.
Thank you for reading this thread, please make sure that you read these rules (aka suggestions), failure to do so will result in your modification thread being locked until all rules are followed.
