Luxor 1:
The first game in the franchise, so it's expected to have its flaws and such. For me at least, the best thing about Luxor 1 would be it's simplicity. No scorpion, no difficulty settings. Though not every simple thing is good, as the backgrounds don't depict anything interesting other than people and animals.
Luxor Amun Rising:
The second game, a huge improvement from the first in terms of adding in a new powerup and new difficulty settings. Though these aren't the only good things that came with. The addition of tiny little details in the background and various colorful palettes certainly attracted many players. That's the reason why Luxor AR stood out compared to games such as Atlantis or Dragon.
Luxor 2:
Personally the best installment in the whole franchise. Ditching the old "wall-like" appearances of levels, it went for a 3D enviorment that was very appealing to look at. Though at this point, the textures did not look exactly realistic, so it stayed put with the cartoonish setting of previous games. Concerning new additions to the game mechanics, it added a bunch of new powerups (color cloud, lightning storm etc.) which just show how creative a marble popper can get. (Minigame levels were also a break from the tiresome gameplay of marble poppers) This is also the game where the z-axis became an element in paths.
Luxor 3:
Certainly one of the most realistic and aesthetically pleasing games as a whole. It completely went from a cartoonish game about scarabs, to an almost full story driven game. (Later about QFTA) Not to mention, the addition of the shop really added more use to carefully playing the game. Unfortunately, with this came new experiments with paths, which completely removed double levels, and added 'alternative paths' to levels. The scarab actually looked like a bug. Minigames included.
Luxor QFTA:
Two words: story driven. Just like Luxor 3, it went for the realistic route, which turned out amazing. The story was well presented and added boss battles, which weren't that difficult, but did serve as a great change compared to the dull gameplay beforehand.
Luxor 5th passage:
While the thought was there, the game wasn't. The reuse of Luxor 2 spheres and gfx really didn't help the painting-like backgrounds which seemed like they would be found in a doll house. (Even though the backgrounds are really nice looking, just compared to the 3D spheres makes them look weird). A real disappointment compared to the previous games.

Luxor 1 was the first game and honestly it's nothing special. It has practically no replay value, no difficulty settings, only one game mode, so it's quite lackluster. Luxor Amun Rising stepped it up by having a better variety of level designs, difficulty settings and a new powerup: the scorpion. I highly recommend it especially for modding. Luxor 2 was a proper sequel unlike AR so it uses a new engine with even better visuals and more features like the use of Z-axis, the ability to have more than 2 paths, new game modes AND bonus levels. Its only flaw is the fact that it has compatibility issues that weren't present in the prequels which is sad. Luxor 3 started to focus more on realism and the story which is a good thing as this game had an excellent balance between the story and the gameplay. This means that they also spent effort on improving the gameplay by adding new types of levels and new game modes. This is my favourite game in the franchise as it's just an all-around experience. Luxor QFTA is a non-linear story driven game which is quite the change. The core gameplay is still the same but the way you progress is completely different. Also there are boss battles which offer even more variety. Overall I recommend it even though it's not an all-around experience. Luxor 5th Passage is just a mess. First of all, it's a downgrade as it came AFTER Luxor 3 and QFTA. This is ALREADY a major red flag but there's more. Second, the game is super boring and has no new innovations to keep you occupied. Third, the level designs are really bland as they lack the Egyptian aesthetic from the Luxor 1 & AR, and they also lack details that the Luxor 2 backgrounds so this way it doesn't even match the older games. Fourth, this game is just overall awful, all things considered and everyone hates it. Don't play this game unless if you're super curious because you won't enjoy it no matter what kind of person you are!
And this is my opinion about all the Luxor games.
Overall scores: 1. Luxor 3 (9/10) 2. Luxor AR (8/10) 3. Luxor QFTA (7/10) 4. Luxor 2 (6/10)
5. Luxor 1 (5/10) 5. Luxor 5th Passage (2/10)
And remember: This is MY personal list so if your opinions are different, don't hate me! Thanks for understanding.

Luxor 1 was the first game yet not the greatest, but it still holds up. The maps are still fun to play, the levels still as exciting. But it feels emptier when looking at other games, as it's lack of features really won't help it.
Luxor Amun Rising was a step up from Luxor 1, with difficulty modes, another set of new maps, and a new powerup. But that went downhill when the powerup, funnily enough was a buggy mess, with softlocks, duplicate scorpions not functioning properly, Scorpion + Reverse resetting one sphere chain, etc. There's still a fairly decent challenge when playing Expert however.
Luxor 2 is undoubtedly the best game in the series, with maps that don't feel like stone wall carvings, more powerups, and polished ones, so no more scorpion bugs. The introduction of Lightning Storm and Color Cloud, along with Net gave the game a lot more variety. Plus, 9 colors. Although it still retains the same 25-map format, the maps are challenging and fun to play... for the most part. >_>
Luxor 3 is where things started to go downhill. Too much focus on the story/graphics dragged this game down hard. It's way too easy for the most part, what with giving the player too much control over what powerups spawn, often leading to complacency. It becomes a problem when the difficulties show the opposite of what they entail. Everything looks nice, but the game felt incomplete, with no 2-path maps, the game spawning only one scarab at a time, and the shop obviously making the game unbalanced.
Quest For The Afterlife is, oh wow, ANOTHER story-driven Luxor game. Except it's a lot worse, what with the new map feature. Ever wanted to play the same levels over and over again? Now you could as the map design is mostly interchangeable, and they knew this by just recycling levels and adding different names on them! The map design has a "show, don't tell" thing going for it which backfires as it's mostly showy and not "telly", going off of the maps' difficulty and fun factor, some maps are fun, like Game Of Scarabs, but that gets tossed to the wayside when you realize it inherits the way Luxor 3 does maps, one scarab at time. And they completely removed the gates Luxor 3 had in levels, relegating them all to single-path levels. Oh, what fun. did I mention unless you like backtracking to hell and back, you need a chariot to fast travel to cities unless you like sick torture going through bumblefuck nowhere many times over and over, playing the same levels. Insult to injury, I just recently learned that the chariot is the one that requires the MOST pieces.
Luxor 5th passage is an inglorious return to the gameplay-driven series. Everything felt "there" but nothing felt right. The blatant recycle of past games' maps and assets harmed the game. The original maps didn't help it either. The style is nice but there's not really anything going for them. Also pointless difficulty modifiers are pointless. Insane is just a permanent 3X multiplier with no drawbacks, as starting off with 7 colors would probably not be a hindrance as most of the levels are easy. The game was "there", the heart and soul wasn't.

Luxor 1: First in the series. Starts a lot of trends that will carry on throughout the series. Actually pretty tricky if you don't know what you're getting yourself into. Stage 8-4 has wrecked many unsuspecting players. But being the first, it lacks loads of elements that will come later on (eg. the Scorpion powerup, believe it or not, was only introduced in Amun Rising!)
Luxor Amun Rising: Very fun game. Now my personal favorite Luxor game. Levels still feel 100% Egyptian despite laying off on the blander backgrounds motif of the last game. Perfect bland of old and new flashy levels which are certainly as eye-catching as the first game's Cobraic Twilight. Levels are certainly more fun than the previous games even though they ramped up the verticals. A very good starting point for Classic Luxor: game is also easier than Luxor 1 even only Expert Mode.
Luxor 2: Honestly, Luxor 2 self like an amalgamation of Luxor 1/AR with 3, where they still go with the classic Luxor formula but add in prerendered models, new gimmicks, bonus stages, etc. This is a hard game, by the way. I also feel as if there's so input lag between shots which make it clunky, but that's probably just me.
Luxor 3: Honestly, this is where Classic Luxor and Modern Luxor split apart. Game became a lot more gimmick filled and lives became insignificant being the threat of Game Over is now nil. But I will say this: this is the perfect starting point if you're an absolute noob that has never played a marble popper before. Luxor 3 holds your hand pretty well even though you can completely break the game if you know what you're doing. Even if you don't and are a beginning, just upgrade the Scorpion powerup to max and you can still completely destroy the game.
Luxor Quest for the Afterlife: Luxor 3 in widescereen Full HD with even more gimmicks. That's my review in one sentence. (oh, and boss battles are neat too)
Luxor 5th Passage: Felt off. Certainly felt more like a Classic Luxor game than the Modern ones, but... without the heart.

So yeah, will review every Luxor Game (the main series, no adventures, no majhong, no evolved) I'll include ratings as well based on my opinion on the game (done in chronological order, not from most favorite to least favorite)
1: Luxor (6/10) Of course, the very first Luxor game. Pretty good start to a franchise of games that I enjoy. To be honest, it's pretty meh for me. Nothing that much, compared to the other games. The background designs seem to be pretty basic wall/floor type levels, not much to them. Very random fact: I saw this as one of the games in Korean Air's in-flight entertainment...
2: Luxor: Amun Rising (8.5/10) Game number 2, this improved greatly compared to the first game. Now you could choose between 3 difficulties, unlike the first game which new players might've had difficulty with levels like Khufu's Revenge (as most people say). Plus, new powerup, the Scorpion which can be either life saving, a bit helpful or worth nothing. The background designs were still wall/floor styled, but have a lot more detail and styled better than previously. Now, this is really popular due to how many use this for modding here to this day, due to how easy it actually becomes to mod this game, and that's why I like this game a lot.
3: Luxor 2 (9.5/10) 3rd game in the series, and it's somehow actually called Luxor 2, that's nice. New powerups, Challenge of Horus, a very large improvement to L:AR and Luxor, mostly with its design. Now it seems to be more 3D, more realistic, feels more alive, like a break from the wall/floor levels. I loved playing it so much. Both the original and the HD version of this felt very lively, compared to the HD versions of Luxor and Amun Rising, which kept the wall/floor design. Luxor 2 (HD)'s design retain the 3D feel but take it to a new level (at least, in my opinion) My personal favorite.
4: Luxor 3 (9/10) Yeah, It has new modes, Crossing the Nile, Onslaught, Puzzle. They were good, and they still retained the original Adventure mode with a twist. Some paths can be divided into 2 paths from 1 path, but sadly no actual 2-2 paths. The shop was a nice addition to the game. Oh well, really good. More realistic, following an actual plot, a storyline, unlike the other 3 games which just had 15 set maps with 10 slowly added an an extra map. Nice one.
5: Luxor: Quest For The Afterlife (8/10) It is quite different compared to the other games with the main enemy being Thutmose (I guess) unlike all the other games in which their antagonist is Set. This has a new plot, new storyline, the map makes you make decisions between which city to go as part of your journey. You have to catch 4 thieves for the canopic jars, and battle against them, but that's just easy. Most features in L:QFTA came from Luxor 3, except for the path that gets divided into 2 from one and the reflector bird things. It's good.
6: Luxor 5th Passage (2.5/10) Oh my, the drastic change between this and all the other games, this seems unoriginal, very easy, and removes most of the good features from the past games. The designs are nice, but seem as if they were paintings, making it feel outdated. These make the game boring, and a really big downgrade compared to all the other games. Not a good way to end the actual franchise.
Average Rating: 7.25/10 So yeah it was a good franchise.

Here we go. Dom's review of Luxor 1 to 5 Luxor 1: The original of the luxor games. It had one difficulty and is fairly challenging the first few times you go through the game. However, while the game was fun the first time, it lacked proper replay value, even moreso when future games were added. For a 2005 game however, it was decent for its time. 6/10 Luxor Amun Rising: The second of the luxor series, but not officially labelled. It was a massive step-up from Luxor, having the Luxor 1 feel while adding new features. Difficulties allowed beginners to gradually learn how to play so that they can then get better at the game step by step. It also added a scorpion, which was a really buggy powerup in the game. Reverse-Scorpion combo pushes a chain to the start point for example. But, as a whole, it was Luxor 1, but better. 7/10 Luxor 2: My personal favourite Luxor game due to the difficulty, eye-catching graphics and rendered graphics. The style pushed 1 and AR out of the window for me, and instantly impressed me when I first played it. The addition of 2 colours, making the totoal of 9 sphere colours made Normal and Expert mode even more challenging, especially on levels like Two Lands United and Wallow of the Hippo God. Not only that but the addition of the CoH showed off a feature known as the Spawn Streak, which basically when set at 1 makes all spheres single, making the CoH different from Expert Mode. Survival and Practice Mode were also added, Survival being superior in my opinion. Survival Mode is endless playing on a level until you fail which can get boring after a while, I kinda wish it was a little faster on some levels. Overall, it's a really great game and worth the money. 9/10 Luxor 3: I won't deny, I did enjoy this game when I first played it. The graphics were pleasant to look at and it really brings you into the game. The sound effects matched the game well as well. The story I never really cared for back then, but it added a little depth to the game as a whole. The only issue was when you upgraded your powerups, and realised the game is easier on harder difficulties due to Sandstorm and Colour Sort. On teh other side of things, Match Highlighter was completely useless and served no purpose other than to stop the player constantly getting pyramid blockers, which was also pretty op at the max upgrade. The different shooter and sphere set options was really appealing to me, my favourites being the sci-fi shooter and the glass sphere set, not to mix up with the abomination known as the Onyx sphere set from QFTA. Puzzle mode was also really fun to play on, as it allowed you to really have to think about where you needed to shoot your spheres
5.5/10
Luxor QFTA: The same as 3 as far as graphics, sound effects and puzzle mode go. The story was well more in depth with actual cutscenes and things to do. But the game really takes a fall when you realise you have to backtrack so much in this game to get anywhere, making it really tedious to play. On the other hand, if you get the chariot early you can beat the game before the final sphere colour can even appear if you get lucky with the canopic jars locations. The sphere sets took a downgrade from 3. The Onyx spheres are horrific and should be burned in the fires of hell along with the stone set which also looks like it should be tossed into a gardens pathway. There were quite a lot of reused levels. Some not as obvious as others like Dem Bones, Rainy Daze and Wonderball Oasis. But the game is fun to just play randomly I guess. 5/10 Luxor 5th Passage: Where do I begin. The game went back to the old luxor style, which was fun and all, but the game had a lot of issues such as using a lightning, spike ball or lead barrage lowered your accuracy, which got annoying after a while. Bastet's Fountain was the slowest level in all existence, reaching a record low midspeed of 0.84 on 6-3, easy mode. However, the backgrounds were nice and appealing, the double shooter was one of my favourite powerups in the game, the colour sorter was fixed. Spike balls and lead barrages were nice additions barring the accuracy issue. Black hole would be more useful if it lasted longer, as it was pretty much useless most of the time. The people's choice levels had some pretty boring levels, and the gameplay was boirng since you only had to fill the progress bar, survival mode in luxor 2 was better. Blast Mode had a unique level that was fun, but having blast mode be timed was boring and a step down froim survival mode as well. Overall, it has some nice features and additions, but it wasn't that well. The controls were pretty clunky as well. 3/10
Edit: After replaying Luxor 5th Passage on Insane Mode, I have grown to like this game quite a bit more than I used to. Whilst there are some notable issues, the gameplay is actually fun once you get used to it. The game is reasonably challenging, up with Luxor 2's challenge when playing Insane mode if you ask me. So, I'm moving the game up to a solid 5/10

Here I go I guess. note that i suck at ratingsLuxor 1Ah, new series. This is the first one I've ever played. This was my first contact, using my dad's (now broken) laptop. It's okay, but well I agree with Caffeine, it's animals in walls. Graphics: 5/10 Moddability: 10/10..? (very easy to mod) Gameplay: 8/10 (no replay value) Total: 9.5/10 Luxor ARI like this a lot. Huge improvement, although scorpion is kinda buggy. Graphics: 5/10 Moddability: 10/10...? (Same as LX 1) Gameplay: 9/10? (has new difficulty modes) Total: 9.75/10 Luxor 2A big step. Integrated CoH, new powerups, Z axis, but of course, drawbacks when modding: The damn spr files. Oh well, it is a great game. Graphics: 9/10 Moddability: 8/10 (spr files ew, 30 path limit) Gameplay: 9/10? See, I told you I suck at ratings!
Total: 9.95/10 Luxor 3Graphic-wise, it is realistic! I like the split paths, but eeeeeeeh gameplay wise is bleh. - Only 1 scarab train allowed somewhat lol, no simultaneous spawns - Infinite lives. Who thought of that? - Easy is more of "Very slow and hard", Insane is a total joke Graphics: 9/10 Moddability: 3/10 Gameplay: 5/10 Total: 5.5/10 QFTAI guess I kinda like this but somehow the split paths got removed and you're stuck with 1-path levels. Ew. Oh and CHARIOT. THE DAMN CHARIOT. Don't have it? Go back to Alexandria or something! Recycled levels: ew. I like the cutscenes though. Graphics: 9/10 Moddability: 0/10 boo Gameplay: 6/10 Total: 5.5/10 5th PassageNo, no, no, no. Bastet's Fountain is so slow on Easy, I can eat my buffet and eat until I finish it and the spheres are barely going into the pyramid totally original not stolen from bobik xd I like how you can have seperate music per level but the rest is a nightmare to mod. And who uses Eye of Horus? I like the powerups though. Graphics: paintings 4/10 Moddability: comicsans.msvec or something 1/10 Gameplay: no idea 4/10 Total: 4.5/10
