I think Sparkle 2 is the least highly rated among all of the Sparkle series. (Maybe other than Epic, though...)
What about you, though? If you want to go into more detail, do so!

i love sparkle 2!!! my only problem with it is that there are too few intersections. also a lot of maps have two/three paths so multiple paths aren't very special. it contains very challenging levels like whispering woods, twisted treeline, regent rock, innocent green, rockrose valley (2-2 path where one is long and one is extremely really short, if i make an account i can screenshot all the levels), drowned marsh, fallen giant and mysterious portal!!!!

I am currently doing a playthrough, 100%; but with one catch.
YOU HAVE TO DO SURVIVAL AND CHALLENGE AS SOON AS YOU GET THEM. (Day 21 and Day 27)
This makes the best setup Speed Unleashed/Horn Of Plenty/None/None.
I'd never believe myself dying to Road Never There TWICE on Challenge (One on Medium, One on Hard) in what I originally thought was a very easy game.
However, my journey through Challenge is almost over. Just a few more sections of Murky Branches, then Cliff Triangle. Always save Cliff Triangle for last.
One thing I DON'T like about the game is that you can't replay Earth Blood Well, Treacherous Pit, and Mysterious Portal. Treacherous Pit would be a good candidate for 'Hardest 1-1 level' in a 'None' playthrough.
There is approximately nine octillion unique levels, and new powerups.
One example of the game easing up on you IS with Cliff Triangle, as on Very Hard (Challenge) and Four Star (Survival) The game NEVER throws the dark orbs at you. Not even on Day 90, the last occurrence of Cliff Triangle in the quest.
Hardest 1-1 Level: Treacherous Pit (Try getting 10 Rune Circle clears on THERE! Very short track, and it looks fairly impressive too. Shame it's one of those 'One Play' levels.) Hardest 2-2 Level: Rockrose Valley (Rockrose is one of my very few losses in the 100% profile. This level is similar to Searing Visage in Zuma's Revenge.)

Have you played Nightmare mode??? With no power ups??? Twisted Treeline and Drowned Marsh are the hardest levels IMO. Drowned Swamp is worse because you have to deal with it 3 times, while Twisted Treeline you only have to play 2 times if you choose the path to the hand before the windmill at level 9. I'll agree with you on Rockrose Valley, the only 2-2 major roadblock.
It's a shame that Earth Blood Well, Trench Frost and Bottomless Pit (which imo are very creative levels) only appear once when Tranquil Spiral, and Swamp Heart, which are not so creative appear four times. It would be nice if they added an ending stretch, like in Luxor when they repeat Earth Blood Well and etc at the end.

That's why I didn't include it in the 'One Play' section. Drowned Swamp isn't that bad, in fact I died a few times on 1-1 levels - none on Drowned Swamp. One in Innocent Green, and the other on... Eye.. of... the... Pond... (Yeah, not the best way to go) Nightmare Mode is not in Sparkle 2. At least to my knowledge. If it did, I probably would've played it and most likely beaten it. No PowerUps coming to a Sparkle Player near you. If the levels you say are the hardest are Twisted Treeline and Drowned Swamp, Blue Serpent from the original must be impossible or something.
