Me and Vossie were having a good chat about this game on Youtube when I realised this specific board is pretty...empty.
So here I am with the classic "hardest levels" in the game poll. Level order in Tumblebugs is not only pretty arbitrary, they actually like to rename the level EVERY reappearance. So, to standardise, I'm taking the level names from Time Trial (the one exception is 9-3: Well, It Could Be Worse and 11-7: See! I Told You It Could Be Worse! It's the same map, but Stage 9-3 is 2-2 and its reappearance in Stage 11-7 is 3-3. So I'm just putting both names in.)
Here's a image on how the 29 maps (in poll order) on the game look like based on a screenshot from Time Trial. Sorry if it's a little low-res.
Typical rules apply. You can choose up to 3 levels. Do give your reasons for choosing them too!
My three picks are "See! I Told You it Could Be Worse!", "The Great Switcheroo" and "Three Ring Circus".
The ring shaped loop-de-loop in Three Ring Circus makes it really hard to aim unless you have the Ballistic Bugs powerup. This level design is so infamous they practically reuse the gimmick for a close-to-endgame level in Tumblebugs 2, naming it "Return of The Ringmaster" or something. (so it's kinda like how Amun Rising parodies Khufu's Revenge)
The Great Switcheroo was my roadblock as a kid. Its final reappearance "Two Tribes Go To War" is conveniently 10-1 to sap lives. It's a double launchpad level (Zuma's Revenge would copy this) but the path of the level curves in than out and blocks itself everywhere and is very deceptively short.
"See! I Told You it Could Be Worse!" is a 3-3 level and I find its path harder than the ACTUAL 3-3 final level because The War of The Roses begins its segments one by one. This level without good powerup luck is nuts to complete. You can't even cheese it with the infinite Star Bug glitch because of the positions of the launchpad switcher orbs.
Honourable Mentions: "I'm Stumped" trolled me as a kid too when I didn't realise the log was hollow and why I kept shooting through it. If the bugs make it to the end trying to aim at the far away spheres is really disorientating. "Pushing Up Daisies" is also very similar to Zumaic Exodus (inwards to out) so that messed me up too on higher difficulties.
