Did you know that Luxor Quest for the Afterlife story was based on a book? I've recently read a long but interesting book called "Sinuhe the Egyptian". From the book, you can learn lots of historical facts about ancient Egypt - the developers of Luxor QFTA were most likely inspired by this book. Storyline of Luxor QFTA continues one of branches of the story from the book after the pharaoh Akhenaten had been killed (in the book, it's the title character who poisons him). Pharaoh's tomb was robbed and destroyed. The book doesn't say what happened to the canopic jars, which are the main focus of Luxor QFTA. In the game you can also notice recurring characters (Queen Nefertiti, Pharaoh Akhenaten, Horemheb, Thutmose) and events (desecration of Pharaoh's tomb, battles between followers of Aten and followers of Amun). It is also possible that the player character is Sinuhe (because Sinuhe was also from royal bloodline, as discovered later in the book, and he was also a trusted friend of the pharaoh). In the book you can also read about characters and events mentioned in names and designs of levels in previous games of Luxor series (events like invasion of the Hyksos, the stealing of Thutmose, reign of the heretic king are explained thoroughly in the book). If you haven't read "Sinuhe the Egyptian", I can honestly recommend it. Even if you're not into ancient history, the book is still a lot of fun to read, featuring a gripping storyline and describes events that really happened and people who really existed a long time ago.
