Hello, recently I've noticed that many users have misused the "Report Post" feature, reporting for unnecessary things with reasons such as "Name calling". I'd like to clear some things up: Reporting posts properly not only informs the staff of a unwanted post, but it also makes you a valuable candidate for the next staff role call. Alright, so, how exactly do you report a post properly? Follow these next few steps: Step #1: Is this post really breaking the rules?
Most common mistake with reported posts is that the report reason is "Namecalling", "He's annoying", " ". All these reasons result in the staff completely rejecting your report, archiving it among other terrible reports. Reading the rules ensures you'll be informed about the ins and outs, the things that control this forum. Read the forum rules here: spherematchers.proboards.com/thread/39/forum-rulesStep #2: Be respectful and properWhile this step isn't all that important to some, it will surely enhance our speed of action. For instance, make sure that the reason is formal, easily read, isn't just a bundle of words we use to express disregard. Step #3: Waiting for staff to take actionThis step is quite simple. You won't be informed of when this post will be edited/removed, which means you should move on. Telling a person that he/she has been reported will only cause drama, and is quite frowned upon. Instead of asking staff when the post will be dealt with, just move on, as mentioned above. There, now you're informed about the ins and outs of reporting posts, failing to follow these steps will result in your report being ignored and denied.

Oh, and too many false reports will also get you banned. So think twice before reporting.

Also, having read some of these reports, do not report a post over a personal grudge with a member. Most of the time these "reports" have incredibly minor reasons (see Step #1) and are not breaking the forum rules. And btw this really did not need to be said, but the Report Post Button is not a toy. An improper report will result in us not really trusting reports from you in the future. Be the whistleblower on actual malicious posts, not the boy whom cried wolf.
