This thread is for discussions about modding games of the Luxor series. I'll start with the instructions on how to get access to the game files: You will need to download QuickBMS from this site: aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm To make it work, you will need a correct script. It can be downloaded here: hl.altervista.org/split.php?http://aluigi.altervista.org/bms/mumbojumbo.bmsSave the text in the script as "script.txt" (regular text file) Run QuickBMS. It will ask you for a script, select the file "script.txt" The program will then ask for a file to extract. Go to your Luxor game folder and select the "data.mjz" file. Depending on the game, this file may be located directly in the game folder or in the "data" subfolder. It works for all Luxor games, besides Luxor 3, Luxor QFTA and Luxor Fifth Passage. Finally, the program will ask you for an output folder. Select the game folder. If the program asks to merge folders "data", click yes. Wait a while, the program will extract files. After the files are extracted, go to the game folder and the subfolder "data". All gamedata will appear here. Now you should rename the "data.mjz" file (from which you extracted the gamedata) to anything else, e.g. "data2.mjz". This will prevent the game from opening this file while loading and the game will load the extracted files instead. Last important step: Make a backup copy of the whole game folder. In case your modding goes wrong, you can always copy original files to fix problems. You can now start to dig with the game files and create mods. More on that coming soon

I copied the data.mjz and renamed them data though.mjz, juijui.mjzLast important step: Make a backup copy of the whole game folder. In case your modding goes wrong, you can always copy original files to fix problems. I did that More on that coming soon You forgot one more thing. If the files are bigger than the older files when you are reimporting, it would cause a warning. Example Old Size: 172648 bytes New Size: 231746Y - Will recover the old one n - Will terminate QuickBMS

Example Old Size: 172648 bytes New Size: 231746Y - Will recover the old one n - Will terminate QuickBMS I wrote instructions for making a mod without reimporting, because the game thinks that the "data" folder is "data.mjz". Thus, there's no need to reimport and you also don't need to pay attention to filesize at all.

Luxor in my computer is smart enough to think that the folder is not the data.mjz file! The folder with extracted game files should be named "data" and it should be in the base game folder, not in the data folder (to make myself clear, it should be something like this: C:\Program Files\Luxor\data Not this: C:\Program Files\Luxor\data\data In my case, it works in Luxor, Luxor AR and Luxor 2.

I'm too lazy to get QuickBMS tbh. Can anyone extract data.mjz contents in a zip file?

I'm too lazy to get QuickBMS tbh. Can anyone extract data.mjz contents in a zip file? I'll give you a download for the Luxor. NOTE: You have to install Luxor first! (I'm not sure if it works without installing it, but it's highly recommended to install it)

How to edit levels *NOT PATHS SADLY* Long Reply Warning!Level names Most of you be like, "I want to change Uraeus Nefertari or any other level's name!" Simple, but complicated... a bit.Step 1: Rename the "UraeusNefertari" level folder (WHATEVER:\Blah Blah Blah, whatever your mod collection folder is\Luxor - Blah Blah Blah Mod\data\maps) into your choice. For example, "CustomLevelNameLol". Do not add spaces.Step 2: Open all level files that corresponds to their level appearance (Uraeus Nefertari appears on 1-1, 4-1, 7-1, and 10-1.) Edit this piece of code: Now change it and save for all corresponding level appearance. If you are confused, visit LuxorGameSeries 's DeviantArt and find his Luxor level gallery.Step 3: Open it's map.ui. Find this piece of code:Now change it, and in this case, CUSTOM LEVEL NAME LOL. Make sure the level name is all capitals so in-game you don't get only the capital parts, while the uncapitalized letters are a whole bunch of nothing. Also, MAKE SURE THE DESTINATION PATHS ARE CHANGED!
YOU DONE.
Thanks to cuteio14 for the help.Spawn ball colors
Useful for cheaters. You will see pieces of code that are like this: If you just select one color, you just activated the infamous single color cheat from ZumaDeluxe, but in Luxor! If you are confused with the colors, here you go: I don't know about Spawn Streak. Powerups If you want just one or two powerups in a level, find this piece of code. Also useful for cheaters. Self-explanatory. Gems C'mon! Every single level needs gems. This is also useful for cheaters. Find this piece of long code: Self-explanatory. 1 is the least points and 15 is the most points. Win conditions Self-explanatory. Useful for cheaters. Find this piece of code: Scarab-related things (In the game files, they are called Vizes.)

Notes about the TARGA (or .tga) files Editing .tga files with any painting program will cause the alpha to reveal the whole .jpg image. ADOBE PHOTOSHOP takes care of the .tga files to not make it reveal the whole .jpg image. You have to use it or else your modding goes wrong.

I'm making an random Luxor mod and here is the done levels: Uraeus Nefertari = Treasure! (based on Treasure City of Rameses) Nepthy's Garden = So Badly Drawn (based on badly drawn Windows 7 Paint drawings) Hathor's Loving Embrace = The Tornado (Because in writing, the level design looks like a tornado)
